VACUUM FILTRATION MORE HARM THAN GOOD
Many vacuum cleaners use HEPA filters as part of their filtration systems. This is beneficial for asthma and allergy suffers also plays a large role in keeping the dust down and under control in your home. Hepa filters trap the fine dust and particles such as pollen and dust mite feces witch trigger asthma and allergy symptoms. For a HEPA filter to be affective the vacuum cleaner MUST be designed so that all the air drawn into the vacuum is expelled through the filter with none of the air leaking past it. This type of vacuum is referred to as a Sealed HEPA system or a sometimes more vague term “True Hepa”. Almost all the vacuums I see in the big box stores advertise that they are a hepa filter vacuum filtering 99% of all particles this may be so on one point of the vacuum. Unfortunately these vacuums are not sealed systems there for air is being pushed out of the vacuum at several other points on the machine this is where those harmful particles and dust escape from the machine back out into the air in your home. This causing more cleaning for the home owner. If your vacuum has dust of the outside of the it when you open the door and the dust is visible this a sign that your vacuum is sucking up dust from the floor and spitting it back into the air in your home.
My favorite sealed vacuum systems are:
· SEBO X4
· MIELE S7
· MIELE Canister
· SEBO Felix
